In Cologne on 15. up to 16. in April, as part of the world-famous FIBO sports fair, the international amateur bodybuilding and fitness competition Panatta FIBO Contest took place, where competitors from the NPC Worldwide organization dealt professional cards in duels. During the first day of competition, classic physique, men's bodybuilding and women's bikini fitness were competed, and on Sunday, women's bodybuilding was announced along with men's physique, women's physique, women's figure and women's wellness.
The first to take the stage were the junior classics, among whom Jakub Franc joined the fight for the judges ' favor with the starting number one, whom Czech bodybuilding fans may remember from his performance at the pre-season autumn fitness competitions. Our competitor had two opponents in the category and when the judges in the semi-finals moved him to the middle of the line when comparing with them, it looked like Jakub was on his way to victory! He also won it later and for Czech racers, who came to the fourth largest German city quite a lot, so Panatta FIBO Contest started great!
That amateur races were held as part of a giant sports fair had both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it was teeming with bodybuilding personalities, such as Breon Ansley, Shaun Clarida, Blessing Awodibu, Mamdouh Elssbiay or Derek Lunsford, but on the other hand, a huge number of people all around in their own Panatta FIBO Contest brought a certain chaos, when the competitors in some cases had trouble even getting behind the scenes. Among other Czech athletes who tried all this on their own skin was Dominik Vratny, who presented himself in the classic physique of men up to 178 cm. Ten competitors were registered for the category and thus more challenges should have occurred when prejudging. Dominik fought his way into the first one and according to the layout of the fighters on the podium, it looked like he could really think of a third or fourth place. In the end, it turned out for him at the first appearance in the new federation was the fourth rung. Ron Bächtlin, the champion of the 183 cm category, opened the way among the pros from the classics in the course of the competition.
The competition had a good level, even in men's bodybuilding, which came after they finished the classics. Attention was drawn to the fighters from the nineties, especially Moritz Hannemann and Jordan Gomes, who fought for the victory. Both were excellent and showed interesting potential in terms of their possible future performance among professionals in the category up to 212 pounds (96.2 kg). In the category of up to 102 kg, Nicola Leonetti was an unmistakable member of the starting field, presenting himself with a really huge amount of rounded muscles. He was in decent shape for his conditions, but he still lacked something for the 100% phase, and for so long in the first callout he posed only for the number three and four positions. In the middle of the row next to Alessio Bertolin, the judges moved him only later.
This was followed by the performance of bodybuilders from the super heavyweight division, and with it came Luboš Chládek's first start in the NPC organization. Two things must have caught your eye about Lubos. He was, as expected, the best-shaped racer on the podium, but he also brought to the stage perhaps too light skin treatment, which already cost many a racer some rung. In the four-man starting field, he began to pose in one of the two places in the middle of the row, but then the judges sent him to the edge and it seemed that he would prefer other bodybuilders. Luboš's rivals were not nearly as developed as he was, but despite the fact that our competitor showed improvements in muscle development on the podium, they were still a bit more powerful and fuller. Undoubtedly, it would be interesting to see how Lubos would look next to them with more filled muscles (perhaps a little at the expense of his famous sculpting) and with an additional layer of competition color. Maybe a different song would have been played in Cologne, but maybe it would have turned out the same, when Luboš himself admits that he still wants more meat. Thus, for him, the bronze was behind the second Danny Lillg and the first George Lukas Behringer. In the absolute following and after the battle with Behringier and the champion of the category up to 102 kg Bertolin succeeded Briton Jordan Gomes, who is so heading among the pros.
Bikini fitnessky came last during the first day of Panatta FIBO Contest 2023 and it was Bikini fitness that found our most successful participant in the Saturday part of the race. Martina Kůrková fought her way to victory in the bikini fitness masters and in the Bikini fitness women up to 168 cm in Cologne and found the Slayer only in the absolute, where the Italian Giulia Silvestri addressed the judges the most. Tereza Jakubičková won bronze in the junior category and added gold in one of the beginner categories.
On Sunday, the competition continued duels in men's physique, women's physique, figure and women's and women's wellness. In the women's physique, the rules for granting a pro card did not apply to the required five athletes, so only athletes from the remaining three categories should have received a ticket to the Professional League of Jim Manion IFBB. Ivo Harvan, a Slovak racer living in Switzerland, succeeded in the men's physique, and at the very end of the competition, the Czech racer was also on the pro card. Radka Kameníčková won the Panatta FIBO Contest 2023 both in the wellness of beginners and in the wellness of women up to 168 cm. In the three-man absolute a few moments later, she posed for a long time in the middle of the row, but in the end she was replaced in the position of number one by Italian Anna Ercolano, who was then declared the absolute winner. The names of all the new pros who have emerged from German amateur racing can be found in the attached table.
